Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs)
Introduction:
Rural Self‑Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) are institutions established under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). Managed by banks—such as Bank of Maharashtra—with active cooperation between the Government of India and state governments, RSETIs aim to equip rural BPL (Below Poverty Line) youth with essential skills and training to combat unemployment .
Bank of Maharashtra sponsors eight RSETIs across Maharashtra, located in Pune, Thane, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Jalna, Amravati, Nagpur, and Palghar .
These dedicated institutions offer fully residential, free-of-cost short-term training programmes—typically lasting between 1 to 6 weeks —in areas like agriculture, processing, manufacturing, and general entrepreneurship development (EDP)
In a typical year, each RSETI conducts 30–40 training programmes, providing NCVET approved certificates that are recognized by banks—ensuring credit linkage for trainees to launch their own micro-enterprises
Over 70% of trainees come from the rural BPL category, with priority given to women, SC/ST, minorities, and persons with disabilities. Additionally, RSETIs offer post-training handholding support, including guidance and follow-up for at least two years
